Art is not about competition. It’s useless to compare your work to someone else’s. Each of us is unique and so is our artistic expression. We have our own style, our own reasons to write and if you try to imitate someone else, it won’t go well. We all want success, recognition and a good payday, but there is no definitive fame or money-making formula. You can’t predict what will resonate with the masses and make them feel what you felt when you were writing. All you can do is be yourself on the page, completely and unapologetically, and hopefully you’ll touch the hearts of other people along the way. And your own.
