Each unique, authentic expression helps the rest of us realize our shared experiences in more exacting language, making these moments ever more vivid. Thank you…
I had an opportunity to meet you on Marianne Williamson's Zoom call, and I shared about the book I recently published (A Place in the Choir: Reclaiming My Relationship with God as a Queer Man) in which I talk about losing a teaching job because I am gay.
I loved reading this piece, and I realize that I have thought like a writer my whole life, but only recently put it into practice beyond my own journals. As I am walking my dogs, I find myself composing haiku - I actually going to put together a collection of these short poems. It is all grist for the mill, and I am so grateful to learn to find the beautiful in the mundane and the lessons in daily life.
Looking forward to reading more. Blessings on your day!
This is true for psychologists as well. Our views of the world and those around us are forever filtered by what we do. Some things can’t be turned off. Since I’ve picked up writing, I get the double whammy. 😁
So glad to hear that.
