I share this take on gratitude. Compulsory mouthing of any mantra, with all its shopworn trimmings, is indeed a waste of time and energy. My mind goes back to the Oscar acceptance speeches of old- "I want to thank, first, God...." My own gratitude is more innate, and thus takes solace in both small and grand. The sunset rates as much as the small life lesson imparted by a critic, or by an admirer. The hug from a child ranks with the realization that, just because I can improve on some things doesn't mean I was born less than noble. Each has its value, and each adds to a full life. Hope your Thanksgiving is a blessed one, Andrea.

Gratitude is very important. I mean; you could have been born a slug.
